During the 30s mascara was a necessity and focus was on the upper eyelashes.

With pear shaped eye-shadows and thin bow shaped eye brows the women showed their independence.

Icons was Greta Garbo, Bette Davis and Marlene Dietrich. And they all painted their lips with dark reds in persuit of the so called Rosebud effect.
