2 Methods :

Method 1-
You can lay the pile of mulch aside for minimum 6+ months, and than spread.

Or

Method 2-
1- Lay 5 to 10 cms or 2 inch to 4 inch Tree Mulch
2- Keep laying if possible because it will decompose
3- The bottom layer will turn into black-rotten wood/soil.

Minimum layer thickness 5cms. Keep adding layers.

Place grass seeds underneath if rainy season is ahead and keep grass tall.
