There is so much said about using wood chips on barbecues. And most of it is total rubbish. This little tip shows you how to make a smoke box using foil that you fill with wood chips and put on top of your hot coals. It will generate smoke inside your barbecue for ages and suppresses combustion of the wood chips, though putting the lid on will achieve that too. Your wood chips will give off smoke for some considerable time while you cook your food. Remember that the smoke flavours have greatest impact at the beginning of your cook and moisture will help with flavour and bark.
