Crosswinds Bio ( http://facebook.com/crosswinds.fm )

With their new release - ‘Meet the Sky’ - (http://www.crosswinds.fm) Crosswinds presents twelve tracks of sophisticated pop infused with elements of funk, jazz, blues and rock. From the opening chord onwards, the UK-Canadian band serves up a rich musical soundscape that binds together stories of tangled lives, loves and hopes. Anchored by Joe Wee’s silky acoustic guitar and soulful vocals, and embellished with Marcus Taylor’s stylish leads, the album balances compelling songwriting with tasteful musicianship.

Within the melting pot of influences that combine for Crosswinds musical vision, you can catch hints of Steely Dan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler and Paul Simon among others. Signature tunes include ‘Spicy’, with its catchy melody, funky groove and tasteful guitar licks, and the title track ‘Meet the Sky’, with its haunting folk-rock vibe, soaring vocals and dynamic solo.

A product of eight years intensive collaboration, the album is ably backed by Matt Snowden’s groove-driven drums and the layered supporting vocals of Ben Bell, David Boardman and David Ari Leon. It reflects on a period in which both Joe and Marcus have followed their personal and professional lives to different sides of the Atlantic, yet remain committed to a musical collaboration that is unbroken since they first began composing songs together in the late 1990s.
