Propane cylinder bottle Refill 1 pound tank Do it Yourself Save $$Money$$ please read description
I wish I could say I filmed the first part of the video to give you a closer look at what I am doing. But sadly, I have to say that cutting off the top of my head in this video was an accident and I am not going to do a Retake because I was able to show what I needed to show on how to refill a 1 pound tank. It was fixed later in the video. Making videos for YouTube is a learning process and I learned why it happened. I won't do it again LOL.
In this video, I show how to refill a 1 pound bottle that I used to throw away all the time. I bought an adapter on Amazon (here is my affiliate link for your convenience - https://amzn.to/3a4yMS5 ) to hook up to a 15lb or a 30lb Propane tank.
I show safely warming (room temperature at the maximum) the 15 or 30lb tank and freezing the smaller 1lb to get the max transfer of liquid propane approx 1lb. Wear gloves, if you have to, while handling the frozen 1lb bottle.
I can't stress this enough - DO NOT OPEN the Propane tank valve with adapter "On" without a 1lb tank hooked up. An open valve VENTING propane can freeze the skin causing frostbite and is extremely Flammable.
ALWAYS CLOSE the valve when you are done before removing the 1lb propane tank.
When finished, ALWAYS remove the Adapter from the larger propane tanks so you can't accidentally Vent propane. The Adapter bypasses the check valve in a 15lb & 30lb tank that prevents it from leaking propane if accidentally opened.
At approx $8 for every two 1lb propane bottles you by at any hardware store. You would spend approx.$120 to buy 30 of these 1 pound propane bottles or $60 for 15 of these 1lb propane bottles. It's approx $20 to fill a 15lb BBQ propane tank and $30 to fill a 30lb Camping RV propane tank. Refilling 1lb bottles with a 15lb propane BBQ tank will save about $40 and Refilling 1lb propane bottles with a 30lb Camping RV propane tank will save you about $90. That"s a lot of money to save for an investment in a $10 adapter. I looked for an adapter that is 1 piece, made of solid Brass. You'll save every time you refill.
Please be Safe. No open flames or lit cigarettes while Refilling Propane tanks, cylinders or bottles! Do not warm propane tanks near fire, heat or heaters! Just let sit in a warm room for a few hours and let the room temperature warm the tank.
1 lb bottles are meant to be disposed of after first use, 15lb & 30lb propane tanks are meant to be inspected and re-certified every 12 years. 1lb bottles can't be certified so, In my opinion, I would advise to dispose of the 1lb bottle every year(season), dispose of it sooner if it develops any rust, bulge, or a leak of any kind. It solely depends on how often you use to refill. I recommend to regularly dispose of older 1lb bottles to buy new to continue safely saving money.
If directions are followed you shouldn't have any problems. Only refill outside in a well-ventilated area. Do not allow children to refill 1lb bottles, Do Not refill 1 lb bottles near any open flame, lit cigarette or spark it is an Explosion Hazard.
On a final note, I do not fill and store 1lb bottles. I leave 1lb bottles EMPTY until needed and fill what I think I'll consume. This will prevent a 1lb bottle from venting or leaking the entire contents where they are stored (reducing fire hazard in storage) or just plain wasting propane.
I hope this helps you save money like it does for myself. Like, Share and Subscribe because you never know what I'm going to do next.
