Quarantine Cooking! Best Homemade Almond Milk!!
Hey friends!
I love to drink Almond Milk and awhile back I decided to try making it myself, since then I make it all the time! It tastes way better than store bought, of course, and it might be a little cheaper, but mainly it's just better and with no preservatives. Here are the steps!
1. Soak 1 cup of raw unsalted almonds in warm salted water the night before. Maybe 1 teaspoon salt or a grind or two off your shaker. Have an inch covering the nuts, cover with a towel and leave till morning.
2. Rinse off salty nuts in morning! Strain and put in your blender with 4 cups of water, a dash of vanilla (1-2 teaspoons) a grind or two of salt (1 teaspoon) and a date or two, or if you prefer sugar, add to your taste, you can always add more later.
3. Blend for 1 min.
4. Take over to the sink and strain concoction through a nut bag or t-shirt, MILK THE BAG!
5. Put in a jar/vessel and enjoy! Like fish & visitors, best before 3 days.
6. You can save the ground almond bits and dry them by the wood stove or heater....if you find a use for these, please do let me know, I have a ton!
