Now that we’ve seen gameplay on both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 - well, sort of - we figured it was time to compare and contrast the graphics of the two next generation consoles. We’ll also take a look at the GPUs of these systems to see whether Microsoft or Sony has the potential to make better looking exclusives. At the end of the day, it’s going to be the games that make the consoles, not the graphics.
While the Xbox Series X has the more powerful GPU on paper, capable of producing 12 teraflops, it doesn’t mean it’s much better than the PS5’s GPU that’s capable of producing 10 teraflops. Teraflops are very dependent on the hardware and software of a console and they’re both very different in that regard. We all expected an Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla gameplay reveal, but the first look on Xbox Series X was more of a cinematic trailer than anything, which left us pretty underwhelmed. Luckily, the PS5’s Unreal Engine 5 demo put us back on the right path and made us realize that gameplay can actually look both stunning and smooth on next gen consoles. Leave it up to Epic Games and Sony to make us feel good again.
There’s more to the graphics of the Xbox Series X and PS5 than just that so enjoy the video, let us know which console you think will have the better graphics in the comments section below and don’t forget to subscribe to TheGamer for more gaming content.
