John here.
So few things happened since my last update of my renovation project. The demolition's been completed, uneven floors been levelled with concrete. The floor height difference between one end of the house to another was 16 cm (over 6 inches). So this must have been levelled before anything else could be done. Stainless steel plates been jacked through the whole width of the brick walls at the floor level to interrupt the capillary pores to stop the moisture from percolating upward. The old hydro insulation has not serve its purpose anymore and walls were soaking wet collecting mold and peeling stucco. The stainless steel now substitute the moisture barrier. Then the layer of asphalt moisture barrier insulation is connected to the plates to protect the rest of the house from moisture. So now the whole house should be dry.
Then I searched for a mason company to re-locate the door openings for the future doors, but these people done piss-poor job. Headers not installed on the new doors center and one of the big ones needs to be re-done. The worst part is that I paid those people up front and they never finished the job. During posting this video I finally got this guy on the phone and he is not coming back. Which is kind of bitter sweet outcome. On one hand I'm glad these sorry ass workers are gone, but on the other hand I need to search for someone else and pay additional money or finish the openings myself.
I'll probably finish it off myself, but I'm not very happy about it because it will set me set me back at least 2 weeks. But at least it will be done properly and the doors will not fall out when they get slammed in the future by some angry housewife :-) The openings must be ready by January 21st for the new doors installation. Hopefully by that time I'll be already working on some framing.
Expenses just keep adding up. Money just draining from my account. The pressure is on.
