We inflated the liferaft (do NOT try this at home!) (Sailing Ruby Rose) Ep. 31
We never do things the easy way...!
The time has come to get our Viking RescYou liferaft serviced. It's about a year overdue (don't worry, it's still safe) and because we're soon to be embarking on another sailing season, we need to get this thing serviced and ready to go. Of course, being us, we decide to get the extremely heavy liferaft off the transom on the one day we have bad weather: the boat was bucking up and down, we had a pillar to negotiate around, and there was just the two of us.
Enter our hero, the lovely marina staff here at St John Yacht Harbour, who helped us manhandle the liferaft onto the pontoon. It honestly would have ended up in the water had he not rushed to our rescue.
We take it to the local service centre, where the very kind staff unpack it, inflate it, and show us the contents of the emergency bag inside. We sincerely hope this is the one and only time we see the contents of our liferaft!
BIG thanks to the very professional and competent staff at Air-Sea Survival & Rescue http://www.airseasafety.net/index.html
