How to stop my dog's barking permanently. Here are my 5 tips to help you to stop your dog from barking.
Tip number one - prevention is the key. If you could prevent that behaviour to happen again and again, it is the best solution. You know your dog better than anyone. You know when your dog is going to bark and why. So, prevent that situation to happen again.

Tip number two - don’t let your dog practice that behaviour repeatedly. Limit your dog’s environment and the situation. Mailman, If you know the mailman comes at 9:00, don’t let your dog by the door at 9:00.
Big windows, if you see, your dog is barking at everything that passes by the window, don’t let your dog by the window. Don’t come up with excuses. There are many ways to block your dog to stop seeing what is happening out there. Curtains, crates, different rooms or even having your dog attached to the leash by your side…
If the dog barks at people who come into your house or doorbell, then we go to tip number 3.

Tip number three - Don’t correct your dog when is barking. Because it is not focused on you.
The reason your dog is barking is that it either doesn’t know what else to do at a situation like that or you never have communicated what you want your dog to do.

Tip number four - Teach your dog a cue for when your dog is doing something wrong. This cue could stop it, enough, no, cucumber… but you need to have it thought to your dog and have it communicated to your dog beforehand.
You need to get your dog to take cues from you. Practice what you want the dog to do before the situation happens. Replace that behaviour with something else. Give one or two options to your dog. Either listen to what I say or let’s play.

Tip number five - Provide for your dog to do something else rather than barking. Teach your dog to sit or come or play on command. So, the dog associates when such a thing happens, I must sit or I get to play with my mom or dad.

Bonus tip. You must remember, the reason the dog is barking, it might be because it gets some form of interaction out of it. The dog sees the mailman comes, it starts barking, mailman goes away, people are passing by the window, I bark, I interact, they go away, the doorbell goes off, people come, I bark, the human comes in and interacts with me, either they pet me or they shout at me and interact with me.

So, you need to interact with your dog before, during and after the behaviour repeats. You can shout at your dog or get physical with it or you can take that opportunity and teach your dog what to do.
