DIY Montessori | Do It Yourself at Home with Pipe Cleaners and Colander | 10 Minutes Playtime | 4K
Creativity is intelligence at play.
Do it yourself DIY at home Montessori project with colored pipe cleaners (also known as chenille stems) and a colander.
Have your child place the pipe cleaners through the holes of the colander. This helps to develop fine motor skills, as well as develop and evaluate depth perception given the shape of a colander, color perception with the use of multicolored pipe cleaners, and cognitive skills in regards to seeing how the child decides where and which of the holes to place the pipe cleaner.
The child can learn to weave one pipe cleaner into more than one hole as an advanced technique. The child can remove the pipe cleaners at the end as an additional task. Adding additional items such as colored pom poms can also increase enjoyment and learning.
