Tesla Ramps Model Y at Fremont for Q2 Push and Possibly Expanding The Plant
As Torque News reports 6 days ago, we are receiving new confirmations that Tesla is ramping the Model Y electric crossover production in Fremont plant for the 2nd quarter-end push.
We can probably say that Tesla is making some good progress in the 2nd quarter of 2020, despite factory shutdowns.
But what is the talk about the Fremont plant expansion? Have you heard of the "Tesla project named GA4.5 Expansion for its Fremont factory?"
Tesmanian reports.
One of Tesmanian's friends, @PJHORNAK / Twitter, shared with us photos showing the truck that Model Y is carrying. The photos were taken in New Jersey, so soon Tesla's local customers will receive their highly anticipated Model Y.
Tesla Model Y reservation holders have been receiving their VINs. Reports of a new wave of Model Y VINs started in the first week of June, the last month of Q2 2020. The increasing amount of reservations holders reporting that they have received their VINs. This suggests that Tesla preparing for another quarter-end push.
Also, soon Tesla's happy customers in Canada will begin to receive their Model Y. On June 3, a Tesla employee confirmed that deliveries will begin “in the next few weeks”, but the exact date has not yet been announced.
There is every reason to believe that Tesla is actively expanding production at its plant in Fremont, California. According to the public records of the City of Fremont, Tesla filed a planning project named GA4.5 Expansion for its Fremont factory. At the moment, Tesla has not confirmed that this assembly line is intended for the production of Model Y, but everything points to this.
Tesla’s dedicated Model Y assembly line was mentioned in early 2019 when the company started preparing to produce its all-electric SUV crossover. Elon Musk and Jerome Guillen talked a bit about certain changes Fremont was undergoing for Model Y activity during Tesla’s Q2 2019 Earnings Call.
Once the assembly line is completed, Tesla will be able to quickly ramp up production and, accordingly, sales of a compact electric SUV.
