What are swangas & custom tuned whips or SLAB CULTURE cars
Almost any car culture starts with realization that factory cars are not even remotely close to satisfying modern driving needs, so all cars needs customization, tuning and other forms of modifications. All these modifications depend on various factors, cultural and design trends.
In the international car tuning map of the world the United States of America have a pretty good representation, as there are at least 5 well recognized car cultures and car styles and Slab Culture is one of them.
Slab car styles are greatly influenced by the Houston music culture and show real love the American-made cars (sometimes exaggerating their design features). One of such exaggerations can be clearly seen on the most iconic slab culture feature – the swangas (rims that look like classic Cadillac rims from 1983 and 1984 but with bigger "elbows").
Good whip or slab car can be made through extensive modification of Cadillacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles or certain Lincolns/Chryslers. As the result such car should become slow loud and bangin’.
The main tuning items and car modifications include - aftermarket HID lights, custom LED slogans inside the trunks, lowered suspensions, candy-style paint, massive stereos and custom interior items, including the dashboards and steering wheels.
