Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. UVC light can damage your eyes and skin. Use all cautionary measures when operating one. Aside from UVC light, it might emit ozone gas, which is a pollutant and an irritant.
It is very easy to custom make a UVC germicidal lamp. The lamp operates at about 254 NM wavelength and is effective in killing all kinds of germs and viruses.
The advantage of this unit is you can use it as an oversize wand to disinfect contaminated items or you can use it as a whole room germicidal unit.
All you need to complete this project is the 18 watt germicidal lamp, a cylindrical container (I used a cereal container) and aluminum foil tape. The lamp you can buy on Amazon or eBay. To make the lamp safer to use, I use a wifi smart plug and the Google Home Mini. The lamp can now be operated through voice command and remotely. The light might emit ozone. You can avoid coming into contact with the odor by ventilating the room or wait for an hour or two before going into the area that was disinfected.
The light can run for thousand of hours with minimal electricity usage.
