Building Schwarz's Roman Workbench

Chris Schwarz’s research into the low staked benches he calls “Roman” benches, has excited both Mike and myself for a while. The article he wrote for Issue Two was illuminating as it focused on the practical usage of this bench. Because this form has been used from ancient Rome all the way into the 20th century, we knew there was a lot to learn here. This video walks through our bench build. Besides planning, picture and video taking, etc we spent little more than 8 hours of building time. Not bad for a fully functioning workbench. We’ll be blogging more about our use of these benches as we gain new insights.
