This is how WE do Science in OUR home. Homeschooling is different for each family. We are more formal for the Math and Science subjects..

As you may know, Science and Math are a big part of our homeschool. We use a homeschool Science curriculum along with doing the experiments at home, he goes to an hour STEM class weekly outside of the home, and also attends a science related related activity for lab monthly outside the home.

This video discusses how we incorporate science projects for the middle school years.

During the 1st semester, we focused on study skills, presentation skills, research skills, analysis, organization skills, etc. So implementing a large project during the 2nd semester of 5th grade that will incorporate all these skills makes it much easier for everyone.

5th grade - 1 major science project that will be done as a team (student and parents).

6th to 8th grade - one project per semester to be done independently with some help, if needed
