How to make DIY Ollas: Self-Watering Systems for Plants
Two simple ways to make your own Ollas. These traditional self-watering vessels are low-tech, easy to DIY, and will help keep plants watered in the driest conditions. The way it works is that you bury the pots into the ground near plants that need regular watering. Top up the water in the vessel rather than the soil around the plant. Moisture seeps through the terracotta and eventually the plant's roots will grow right up to the pot. They'll suck moisture directly from it.
The first way to make an Olla takes only a few minutes and the second more permanent DIY takes a day. I've also just released an update including a third way and how the ollas are doing two years on: https://youtu.be/3zu8UF-dL8U?t=279
