The Rainbow Bee-Eater (Merops ornatus), an elegant bee eating small bird the size of 21 – 28 cm in length with a wingspan of 31 – 34 cm.

Where to spot these beauties, walking alongside the beach I heard a noise of its call. These birds are insectivore specialising in eating bees, wasps, dragonflies, more bugs, and flying insects just to name it a few. These birds are skilled at devouring bees without being stung, they catch the insect, take it up in the branch, and numb its prey by whacking it on the branch and eat.

They were gorgeous together; the male is feeding the female with its caught after which they were mating. They glow under the sunrays. Not easy to spot mainly because of their size, roosting on top of a coastal pine tree. Sometimes the dead branch of a tree.
