Here is why I dont eat the big catfish I catch.
Large adult catfish can live up to 20 years or more and as they wonder and eat throughout the river systems they are also living with toxins in the water which has seeped into our river system for years. I believe these toxins have built up within the fishes flesh over time to an unsafe level to consume for food. The smaller fish are perfect for table fare as they havent lived as long to collect the toxins to become uneatable therefor the catfish less than 10 lbs are more suitable for table fare. IMO
