Or you can search the categories by searching for "1985 Chevy Crew Cab Dually, 24v 5.9 Cummins, 2wd to 4wd conversion" Thanks for all the support for this ole workhorse, I never would have dreamed there would be this much love for a necessity/purpose built truck.
The International Quarantine Car Show was put up by Deboss Garage https://debossgarage.com/. Rich had the idea that since everything has been canceled worldwide, car show and social gathering wise. Why not have a car show online? Great idea Rich, and a hearty hello to the international team of judges. Here is the Jolly Green Giant. 1985 Chevy C30 originally, that was a DOT Cab and Chassis truck from PA. I converted it to 4wd and later lifted it 3" for the Cummins Swap. When I got done putting it all together 15 years ago it was 6 different colors, thus we hosed it down with a case of Uncle Sam Green that was laying nearby. The Cummins Swap was a 24v from an 2001 Dodge with NV4500 Trans coupled to a Dodge 6 bolt round input NP205 filled with mixture of GM/Dodge guts, Drive shafts ended up with 1410 and 1480 U joints with a 2.5 ton truck carrier bearing. Rear axle is a narrowed 14bolt GM and the front is a dually Dana 60 both geared 3:73. The Cummins had near 500K miles when it was transplanted, and at about 2 years later the head cracked and popped the gasket. Rebuild soon was underway with ARP head studs, rocker studs, shaved head, 75hp injectors, ATS exhaust, Banks intake, and a Jacobs Exhaust brake. Few years later I got rid of the last weak link, the VP44 injection pump. Swapped in a P7100 injection pump and a high mount alternator setup to run a 22SI alternator which means no more computer. There is only one wire for the engine now, the one from the alternator charging the batteries. EMPD/zombie apocalypse proof!!!!. LOL.. Dump box from an M105 trailer has made life much easier. The M105 Deuce trailer has been shortened about 6" front and rear, brackets and hinges are fabricated by me. along with the 40gal inframe fuel tank mod.Questions, or in need of help with a recipe for your build. Holler at me wcuhillbilly@yahoo.com Or, my phone number is on the door of the 5 ton crane truck......
