I often get asked "How do you connect a hobby grade RC servo to a cheap RC toy car receiver" and the simple answer is "You don't". A hobby grade RC servo uses 3 wires Positive Negative and Signal. A typical cheap RC toy car uses 2 wires Positive and Negative. The cheap receiver steers the car by sending current one way to turn left and reversing the current to turn right. The hobby grade receiver sends the servo a steady current to power a small circuit board inside the hobby grade servo and it sends a signal on the signal wire to tell the circuit board what to do. The circuit board then sends current to the servo motor to turn it in the required direction for the required amount. You can remove that circuit board and drive the servo direct from the cheap receiver but you will not have the fine control you would with a hobby grade receiver and you will probably damage the gears as you will have no electronic feedback to stop it at the end of it's travel in either direction.

If you have a question it is probably worth reading this video description first because the answer may already be here. Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.
