Dominik Eulberg “Die blaue Sekunde” - Official music video
This music video has been inspired by the cover of Dominik Eulberg's forthcoming “Ein Stueckchen Urstoff” release - a microscopic image of crystallised vitamin B6.
Some things are not what they seem. And some things look different from up close.
We wanted to pick up the idea of magnification, the influence of coincidence and the inspiring range of colours. All stimulated by the vivid and dynamic beats of the track.
Flamboyant goo exploding in viscous matter.
Cells, macrobiotic life, lava lamps…
The textures in this video are based on the ”Bubblesheet” photographs by Matthias Lindner which depict colourful LED lights reflected by thin sheets of industrial Aluminium. These sheets are an industry by-product, distorted by heat from being used as a separation material between layers of blazingly hot Aluminium panels.
Together with Matthias we projected several visuals from our productions on one of these sheets of wavy metal and filmed it (with a HDV camera). This was an experiment that happened a long time ago and with no specific project in mind. Now, 2 years later, we picked up the footage and projected these projected videos (anaphora intended) onto digital bubbles and metaballs (yes METABALLS! Not Meatballs, stupid autocorrect!). A video projection inception if you will.
We were fascinated by the layers of textures we ended up with. Colourful and distorted images on the wavy and imperfect surface of the sheet. Unexpected Movement. Flaring highlights. Pixels of the projector becoming visible, becoming a texture. Even the compression of the HDV camera added an additional layer. And all that projected and distorted once again on the smooth bubble surfaces.
Watching happy accidents happening.
The moral of the story? Always experiment and never give up on your ideas and phantasies! One day they might become something wonderful … when you listen to the right track.

“DIE BLAUE SEKUNDE is equally breathtaking and groundbreaking! It’s beats are made out of exploding firecrackers and acoustic 'rooms', they are huge and spacious as anything. The melodies rotate with brutality and hyper dynamics take place sucking in your energy like a tornado. Switching from one extreme to the next one as if both were brother and sisters, Dominik plunges into a pool of lush sounds in the break… as if taking a bath in one of the Westerwaelder lakes Dominik lives close to. DIE BLAUE SEKUNDE is an emotional roller coaster of the finest quality you don't want to miss.” —traumschallplatten.de
