Scott McLaughlin has held off Shane van Gisbergen to clinch a maiden Peter Brock Trophy in an exhilarating Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

McLaughlin had been the fastest driver all weekend but his route to victory in the race was not without twists and turns.

After 160 laps and more than six hours, it all boiled down to one final hot lap after the last in a series of late Safety Car periods.
