*** Note: The tuning of this song is standard DROPPED ONE WHOLE TONE, and the chords are notated according to PITCH. Therefore a "D" chord is shown as C, "Em" as Dm and so on. This is pretty basic stuff, so spend some time getting your head round it before jumping on here to complain... Thanks! ;) ***

I've seen a number of inaccurate versions of this classic Pink Floyd song on Youtube so I thought I'd post my interpretation.

Tune to standard one whole tone down (DGCFAD).

The C/Bb and Aaug chords are embellishments using notes taken from other parts of the recorded arrangement so that it sounds more accurate played on solo guitar. In an ensemble, play the C/Bb as Bb during the verse (C shape open chord) and C during the solo (D shape open chord). Play the Aaug as an A (B-shape barre chord).

Lots of folks have been asking for the rhythm strumming pattern. I have attempted to represent this in text below. Firstly, you should familiarise yourself with a 16th-note rhythmic feel and count (1e&a-2e&a-3e&a-4e&a) playing with alternating (down-up) strokes. The trick is then to maintain this consistent down/up strumming regardless of whether or not you are striking the strings. Maintaining this action will produce a downstroke on each 8th note (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &) and an upstroke on every 16th note subdivision in-between (e and a).

Here is the pattern:

d - d u x x d - d u x x d u x x

d=downstroke
u=upstroke
x=muted down/up stroke
- = 'phantom' upstroke

Begin learning the pattern by playing the following, where "-" is a 'phantom' upstroke (make the movement but don't strike the strings):

d - d u d u d - d u d u d u d u

Then replace pairs of down/upstrokes with muted strokes as shown:

d - d u x x d - d u x x d u x x
