First woodworking project: Making a workbench
This is a video of my first project since deciding to upgrade from my simple hand tools to some basic power tools. All of this was done with a 6 1/2" PC circular saw, drills and an impact drill from PC, a Ryobi brad nailer, a PC jig saw, a Hitachi powered drill, PC hand sanders (square and orbital), a 10" Hitachi mitre saw, and a 2 1/4 PC combo router.
All plywood and MDF started as full 8' sheets, all 2 x 4's and 4 x 4's were 8' long as well. The grade is budget level for all (pine sheathing 3/4 inch, basic stud-quality 2 x 4's, etc).
The finished dimensions are: L 84"; W 32"; H 36"
Since I am always a work in progress, and I am still learning about the do's & don't's of woodworking, including proper techniques, materials, etc, I admit that this is not an instructional video meant to convey the best means of making your own durable workbench.
This video serves as an example of how a man with only limited experience, means, and time can still achieve great goals in life. I look forward to watching, reading, and learning more about woodworking in the future. Thanks for checking out my video.
