My question was how do you bend bamboo? Well, you don't. You grow it and shape it as it gets larger. Most of the bamboo reaches full size within a year some within months. I have witnessed this is is truly amazing. A bamboo may grow as much as 24 to 34 inches a day during the peak growth in the spring.

Bamboo, if you have never seen it grow, will appear strange because it is not a thin plant that grows fatter as it ages. It emerges from the ground in a cone like shape, large in diameter at the base. If it is a 4 in diameter bamboo it will emerge in a cone shape until the base 4 inches. Then it will start growing the stalk. All the 'joints' will come out close together. As the bamboo grows the joints will become further apart.
