Dr. Patrick Mahaney:
I’m Dr. Patrick Mahaney.
I have used acupuncture on my own pet. I completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) basic course (2006) and am now a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA).
I earned this certification after I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (1999) and completed an internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C (2000).
I make house calls with the emphasis on pain management through acupuncture and musculoskeletal therapy. I also advise on pet-safe environmental changes, recommend dietary modifications, prescribe medications, dispense nutraceuticals (supplements) and Chinese herbs, communicate with your regular veterinarian or specialist, and provide end of life care and euthanasia. Learn more about my practice or arrange for a consultation for your cat or dog via my Veterinary Services webpage.
I’m also a member of many professional advocacy groups, including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), and Lesbian Gay Veterinary Medical Association (LGVMA), and BlogPaws.
