Introducing Chris Larsen— currently the richest person in cryptocurrency.

Forbes estimated his worth at $59 billion dollars in January 2018, putting him fifth on their list of the world’s richest people.
Less than two weeks later, Larsen lost $44 billion dollars on paper during the cryptocurrency crash. Such are the highs and lows of cryptos! Go figure..

For someone like Larsen, whose net worth is linked to the 15.6 billion Ripple XRP tokens he owns—he can only shrug this setback off, and hold on. Larsen is a "HODLER", keeping alive the hope that lost value will, in time, return.


Chris Larsen is known as a quintessential serial entrepreneur—with a special interest in co-founding fintech companies.


He started one of the first online lenders called E-Loan during the 90s.


By 2000, E-Loan had an estimated market value of a Billion Dollars.










He co-founded the first ever Peer2Peer lending sservice— named Prosper in 2006.


Larsen resigned as CEO in 2012 to concentrate on a new project which utilized blockchain technology.
He co-founded OpenCoin (since renamed to Ripple Labs Inc in 2013) which…

introduced its own cryptocurrency; called XRP which functions in a similar way to bitcoin.

As of May 2018, Ripple is the third leading cryptocurrency in the world by market cap
But Ripple is much more than just another cryptocurrency.

The company began by developing a payment processing protocol named Ripple.

Ripple was designed to enable near instant financial transfers with very low transaction fees.
In 2017, American Express partnered with Ripple to create a Blockchain-based payment infrastructure. MoneyGram announced in 2018, that it would integrate Ripple’s XRP into its payment system.

The company remains one of the hottest blockchain-based investments, and Larsen’s successful track record has been key to that.
So, what's Larsen's secret to success? To put it simply, takings risks. As Larsen himself says:

“Take the plunge. Don’t hold back. The consequences of failure are usually much smaller than you think. But don’t be afraid to iterate your ideas as you search for that compelling mission for your business.”
As Larsen guides yet another fintech business through a strategy of successful growth, his advice is well worth listening to.
